Little things that make us Patriotic...!

Like most of the kids, I also grew up watching Desh Bhakti Films and wanted so bad to do something better for our country. Well I guess, working in an IT is not really a dream come true. But long gone are those days, when we used to stand on this glorious day in a queue and salute to the National Flag. Long gone are those days, when as soon as we get to hear patriotic songs our nerves get filled with patriotic rage, a feeling that can’t be described in mere words. Well, at least some of us felt the same while others just waited in long queue to get toffee packets. Long gone are those days, when we used to tell the class that why we want to become like Gandhi or Subhas Chandra Bose and so thus the days, when we used to hear their stories of truth and bravery.  As the time passes, we grew. We grew to become something which society forced us into and forgot about the sacrifices, that these National Heroes made for the betterment of our society, for our freedom and for generations to come. We forgot the principles by which they lived, the ideologies which they propounded, drops of blood which they shed for their countrymen.
Today, India is going to celebrate its 68th Independence Day. We have witnessed and achieved so many things in the last 68 years of freedom that even if I start writing one year’s accomplishment, I will exhaust myself by writing and you will go tired of reading. Any way you can get that on Google and I am not the PM who will quote his government’s triumphs and success. What I really want is to direct your attention for a moment from your messed up lives to a really small issue that happened over a past year. Well I would rather highlight these so called small issues than to talk of Pakistan’s cease fire violations, China’s invasion on Indian soil or INS Kolkata for if that matters. Because it is these small issues that are holding us back, keeping us into the shackles of chain. Last year we fought for an issue with WhatsApp. The issue was to include Indian Flag in WhatsApp emoticons. Does any one of you remember? Well this year, I have seen couple of people updating their status ridiculing the use of Indian Flag for WhatsApp profile pic. This seemingly small incident describes the drift in people’s thought process. Do not think of it only in a patriotic way but it rather emphasis more on how we are inclining towards pessimistic thinking than towards the optimistic approach (On the brighter side, we are still getting the forwarded message that ’’Our national anthem is chosen as the best national anthem by UNESCO’’).  Let’s figure it out how, shall we.
So, people started ridiculing the idea of putting National flag as their WhatsApp profile picture. The same people who were fighting the WhatsApp last year, to include Indian flag in their emoticons.  Some Budhijeevis think that by doing it people are nothing but showing off. When the right time comes, they won’t give a damn about their country. They can hardly stand for 52 secs when National Anthem play on TV, then what does this little thing will make difference?  That’s where people usually get wrong. Little things do make difference. I am in a no position to criticize anybody but yes, one should start entertaining such thoughts.  We are so much confused right now, that we stop looking towards the brighter side of anything.  We look for the conspiracy in spreading of AIDS, look for illuminaties, striving to solve the mystery of darker side of the Moon rather than enjoying its moonlight. We are surrounded by Mud. Mud, which is holding us back from achieving, what we can truly achieve. This Mud shackles are created by our own filth. But we need to cast off these shackles.
If anyone wants to show his patriotism by using his WhatsApp profile picture, let him. Not all of us can be soldiers.  People started celebrating Independence Week now, Let them. Don’t mock them or make them look like a stupid by saying it will achieve nothing. Let them share Freedom fighters pics, let them spread their ideologies, let them share their stories.  Even I used to think that people get patriotic only two times either when there is a match between India and Pakistan or during Independence Day. But no, we love our country and we think for it every day.  We want to change it to a better place. So, stop ridiculing and start embracing such thoughts. We belong to a very beautiful country with a glorious history. Fight for those who are underprivileged, stand for values that are morally right. You may not achieve greatness like them but think of Greatness as nothing but just a fragmentation of a feeble mind.
‘’ Soora so pehchaniye, jo lare deen ke hait
Purja Purja kat mare, Kabhun na chhade khait’’
‘’ Brave is he who fights for the underprivileged. He sacrifices himself slain to pieces, but does not give up the hearth’’
