For the last few days, all media was covering Salman Khan’s
A#@. How one of the most popular celebrity of Indian cinema, got drunk, drove
over footpath, mistakenly killing one innocent while severely injuring the
other three, and ran away from the crime scene on that tragic night. Well, FIR
got registered, PIL filed, case get into court and so far verdict has been
hanged by honorable High Court. Fans prayed for his release and those like me,
felt happy for a short while after hearing his sentence that we may get relief
from his movies for the next couple of years. But then suddenly, I felt a cold
chill down my spine. I realized something is not right with the session court’s
verdict and I started thinking, do Salman Khan really needs to go behind the
bars for what he did 13 years ago, even though now he is successfully running an
NGO which is helping thousands of children? OK, this may be sound too contentious
on my part but I am surprisingly delighted after hearing of his bail.
He was young, brash and not the same person he is now. So,
what he was drunk, driving without license drove over footpath and ran away
after killing one poor man? He is giving more to the society than that poor filth
can ever give. All the Twitter and Facebook walls filled with such posts and millions
of fans came into his defense. Even Forgotten singers like Abhijeet and a rich
gemologist Farah Khan Ali, who we never heard of before got into trouble after
posting their views on twitter and came into lime light. And now Salman Khan’s
well wishers ‘Dua for Bhai’ finally paid and he got bail from High Court. Thanks
to Indian Judiciary, the process will start again in High Court and then again
if, require will continue to entertain in Supreme Court. I am not a fan of
Salman and I hate his movies but still I am happy over this decision. So, what
an innocent worker got killed during that accident. So, what the constable who filed
FIR against Salman had to leave his job due to pressure of God knows what, got
TB and died on streets with no one from ‘Being Human’ to claim his body. So,
what witnesses were bought or his driver was accused of his actions. So, what
millions of Indian people thought for a while that Justice can’t be bought and
no men actor or politician is above the law.
I am happy that he is out of prison. I am happy because I
always believed that money can buy anything and power can influence anyone. And
this verdict proved me right. I am happy because now media (better known as
presstitutes these days) can finally stop analyzing what happened on that night
and start showing news related to land ordinance bill, retail bill and other
important stuffs which may influence common man lives. I am happy because I
have got more reasons to criticize logic behind Sallu’s movie. I am happy because
honestly speaking no matter how arguable it sounds but he is contributing more towards
society being out of the prison. Oh yes, I am happy, very happy. It is not like
sentencing him will make people believe in our Judiciary and law. We will still
think of our law as a plaything for riches. Then why put him in jail? It won’t
help those who were injured not economically at least, it won’t help thousands
of other street dwellers who are still compelled to sleep in footpaths and
surely, it won’t help the Multi-Billion Rupees industry Bollywood. Call it
defeat of the justice, call it loop hole of our Judiciary system, call it the remarkable
skills of Harish Salve or call it whatever you want but it is a hard saddened
truth that the World needs to see people like Salman Khan out of the prison
even more than to see justice served to poor soul who died on that
fateful night.
